5 AI Agent Ideas You Can Build This Weekend
Five agents that take under an hour each, need no code, and solve something you actually do every week. With the instructions worth stealing.

Rules of the game
No code. No API keys. Nothing that needs deploying. Each of these is a saved assistant on a platform you already use, and each takes under an hour — most of that spent writing down what you already know.
1. The inbox triager
Job: paste in an email, get back a classification and a draft reply in your voice.
Why it works: the task is repetitive, the output is short, and you review everything before it goes out, so the stakes are low.
Worth including: your three or four real categories, one example reply per category, and a hard rule — "never promise a date, never quote a price, flag anything about refunds for a human."
2. The meeting-notes-to-actions agent
Job: dump messy notes or a transcript in, get a structured summary plus a list of owned actions.
Worth including: your exact output format (models are far more consistent when the shape is fixed), and an instruction to write "owner unclear" rather than guessing who agreed to what. That one line saves a lot of awkwardness.
3. The research summariser with a scepticism setting
Job: given a topic or a pasted article, produce a summary that separates what is claimed, what is evidenced, and what is opinion.
Worth including: "distinguish claims from evidence", "name the source of every number", and "if the source does not support the claim, say so." Best paired with Claude for long documents — see our Anthropic deep dive.
4. The writing partner that knows your style
Job: turn rough thoughts into drafts that sound like you rather than like a press release.
Worth including: two or three samples of your actual writing, plus a banned-words list. Be ruthless: delve, leverage, unlock, in today's fast-paced world, it's not just X — it's Y. Prohibitions work better than adjectives.
5. The rubber-duck code reviewer
Job: paste a function, get an explanation of what it does, what could break it, and what you probably forgot.
Worth including: your language and framework versions, your team's conventions, and "ask before assuming intent." Configure it to explain rather than rewrite and it becomes a thinking tool rather than a slot machine.
The pattern underneath all five
Narrow job. Fixed output shape. Explicit prohibitions. One worked example. Say what to do when unsure. That is the whole recipe — the platform is almost incidental.
