Figma Weave Not Loading: Fix Blank Screens & 500 Errors
Updated 10/1/2026
If Figma Weave won't load, hangs on a blank screen, or throws 500, 502, or 503 errors, the issue is typically caused by local browser cache conflicts, browser extension interference, WebGL rendering failures, or localized network blocks. Because Figma Weave relies on continuous data streaming and heavy canvas rendering, minor local configurations can prevent it from initializing.
Follow these practical troubleshooting steps to resolve loading failures and get the interface working again.
1. Check Figma's Service Status Before modifying your browser settings or local files, determine if the issue is a platform-wide outage. Figma Weave relies heavily on cloud infrastructure to generate design assets and process instructions.
- Visit the official status tracker at status.figma.com.
- Look under the Figma Design and Figma AI / Weave sections for active incidents, service degradation, or scheduled maintenance.
- Check official communication channels such as the @FigmaStatus profile on X (formerly Twitter) to see if other users are reporting similar gateway errors.
If the status page indicates an outage or performance degradation, wait for Figma's backend team to deploy a hotfix. If all systems are operational, proceed with the local troubleshooting steps below.
2. Force a Hard Reload and Clear Figma Cache Corrupted cache files or outdated application scripts can prevent the Figma Weave interface from drawing correctly on your screen. A standard refresh is often insufficient because the browser will continue to pull from its local cache.
If using a Web Browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Safari): 1. Use a keyboard shortcut to perform a hard refresh and bypass the cache: * **Windows/Linux:** Press `Ctrl` + `F5` or `Ctrl` + `Shift` + `R`. * **macOS:** Press `Cmd` + `Shift` + `R`. 2. If the interface remains blank, clear site-specific data: Click the lock icon next to the URL in your browser's address bar, select **Site settings**, and click **Clear data**.
If using the Figma Desktop App: 1. On macOS: Go to the top menu bar, select **Figma**, navigate to **Preferences**, and click **Clear Cache and Restart**. 2. On Windows: Close Figma completely. Press `Win` + `R` to open the Run dialog, type `%APPDATA%\Figma`, and press Enter. Locate the directory, delete all files inside the folder, and relaunch the application.
3. Disable Interfering Extensions and Plugins Ad-blockers, tracking protection extensions, script-blockers, and certain custom CSS extensions can block the background WebSocket connections and APIs required by Figma Weave.
- Open an Incognito or Private Browsing window.
- Navigate to your Figma project and try launching Weave.
- If Weave loads successfully, a browser extension is blocking the tool. Open your extension manager and temporarily disable your ad-blocker or script-blocker.
- Whitelist *.figma.com within your extension settings to prevent future blocks.
Additionally, check if any active design plugins within the specific Figma file are conflicting with the editor's UI threads. Try opening a completely fresh, empty draft and launching Weave there.
4. Verify WebGL and Hardware Acceleration Support Figma Weave requires WebGL and GPU acceleration to render layout variations dynamically on your canvas. If your browser's graphics acceleration is disabled or unstable, the interface will crash or remain blank.
- Visit webglreport.com in your browser to confirm that both WebGL 1 and WebGL 2 are fully supported and enabled.
- In Chrome or Edge, navigate to Settings > System and performance.
- Ensure that the toggle for Use graphics acceleration when available is turned on.
- If using a laptop with dual graphics cards (integrated and dedicated GPUs), open your system's graphics settings (such as NVIDIA Control Panel or macOS Graphics settings) and ensure Figma or your web browser is set to run on the high-performance GPU.
5. Bypass Network Blocks and VPNs Corporate firewalls, proxy servers, and VPN configurations can drop the secure WebSocket and API connections that Figma Weave uses to stream real-time workspace updates.
- Disable your VPN or Proxy: Temporarily disconnect your VPN or proxy to see if your local ISP network resolves the connection.
- Switch Networks: Connect your device to a different network (e.g., a mobile hotspot) to isolate whether your primary office or home Wi-Fi is blocking Figma's server addresses.
- Flush DNS: Clear your local DNS cache to resolve potential routing issues.
- Windows: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run ipconfig /flushdns.
- macOS: Open Terminal and run sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
