Is Figma Weave Down? Outage Troubleshooting & Fixes
Updated 10/11/2026
When Figma Weave stops responding, fails to generate UI components, or hangs indefinitely on a loading spinner, it is hard to tell if the issue lies with Figma's cloud infrastructure or your local setup. Because Weave relies on real-time synchronization between the Figma canvas and external AI generation engines, minor network drops, regional server degradations, or corrupted session states can break the tool entirely.
Follow this step-by-step troubleshooting guide to determine if Figma Weave is down and restore your design generation workflow.
Step 1: Check Figma's Official Status and Outage Reports
Before altering any local settings, verify if Figma is experiencing a system-wide or feature-specific outage.
- Visit the official Figma Status page at status.figma.com.
- Look specifically at the statuses for "Figma Design", "Design Systems", or "AI Features". Figma often groups Weave's specialized generative backend infrastructure under these categories.
- Check community-driven status monitors like Downdetector, or search social platforms using terms like "Figma down" or "Figma Weave broken" to see if other designers are reporting identical lockups in real time.
If the status page indicates an active incident or partial outage, the problem is on Figma’s side. You will need to wait until their engineering team deploys a hotfix.
Step 2: Clear the Figma Cache and Force Restart
If official status pages show all systems operational, cached data or corrupted session states in your local Figma client may be blocking Weave's connection.
If using the Figma Desktop App on macOS: 1. Close the Figma application completely (Cmd + Q). 2. Open Terminal and run the following command: rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Figma 3. Restart Figma and try running Weave again.
If using the Figma Desktop App on Windows: 1. Close Figma entirely. 2. Open the Run dialog (Windows Key + R), type %APPDATA%\Figma, and press Enter. 3. Delete the folders named Cache, GPUCache, and Local Storage. 4. Reopen the Figma desktop client.
If using Figma in a web browser: 1. Open your browser's developer console (F12 or Cmd + Option + I). 2. Right-click the reload button in your browser and select "Hard Reload and Clear Cache". 3. Log back into your Figma workspace.
Step 3: Test WebSockets and Network Restrictions
Figma Weave relies on persistent WebSocket connections to stream generated layout schemas and code directly onto your design canvas. Strict corporate firewalls, VPNs, or custom DNS configurations often block these long-lived connections.
- Temporarily disable any active VPN, proxy, or corporate security software.
- Switch your network connection (for example, connect to a mobile hotspot) to rule out router-level DNS blocks.
- Verify that your local network/firewall permits traffic to *.figma.com and allows WebSocket traffic (WS/WSS ports).
If Weave immediately starts working over a mobile hotspot, your main network's security policy or firewall is actively blocking the API endpoints Weave uses to communicate with its generative model clusters.
Step 4: Test in a Blank File to Isolate Canvas Complexity
Large design files with complex auto-layout rules, massive nested component libraries, or deep variable structures can cause Figma Weave's generation requests to time out, which manifests as a permanent hang.
- Create a completely blank Figma file in your drafts.
- Launch Figma Weave within this new, empty file.
- Input a simple, standard generation prompt (e.g., "Create a simple login button").
If the generation succeeds instantly, the service is online. The issue is isolated to your original design file. You may need to break your complex file into smaller library chunks or resolve circular component dependencies before Weave can parse the layout structure successfully.
Step 5: Force a Session Re-Authentication
Expired authentication tokens can leave the UI looking active while silent 401 or 403 authorization failures prevent Weave from triggering backend generation in the background.
- Click on your profile icon in the top-left corner of the Figma file browser.
- Select "Log Out".
- Close all open browser tabs and Figma client windows.
- Re-open Figma, log back in using your credentials or SAML Single Sign-On (SSO), and attempt to generate again.
When to escalate
If you have cleared your cache, verified your local network, confirmed that other Figma files also fail to run Weave, and the Figma Status page claims all systems are normal, you are likely experiencing an isolated account or workspace bug. Contact Figma Support through their official Help Center. Provide them with your console logs (exportable via the Help menu), the browser network inspect payload showing the failing API requests, and the specific File ID where Weave is failing to load.
