Midjourney Cancel Subscription Not Working: How to Fix

Updated 10/7/2026

If you are trying to cancel your Midjourney subscription but find the cancel button grayed out, the page failing to load, or the interface looping endlessly between Discord and the Midjourney account portal, you are not alone. These issues typically stem from corrupted browser cache states, script-blocking extensions, or synchronization issues between your Discord authentication token and Stripe (Midjourney's payment processor).

Because Midjourney does not process payments directly, authentication mismatches between Discord, Midjourney's web portal, and Stripe can prevent the cancellation option from executing. This step-by-step guide explains how to bypass these errors and successfully terminate your recurring subscription.

1. Bypass Discord and use the direct billing URL Many users experience cancellation failures because they try to navigate through the Discord client using the `/subscribe` command. The in-app Discord browser often fails to hand off security credentials to the external Stripe portal properly.

  1. Open an external, clean web browser (such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Brave) on a desktop computer.
  2. Navigate directly to the official Midjourney account page: https://www.midjourney.com/account.
  3. Click Sign In and authorize the login using your Discord credentials.
  4. If you are redirected back to the homepage instead of your account page, manually type https://www.midjourney.com/account into the address bar and press Enter.
  5. Click Manage Subscriptions to launch the Stripe billing portal, then click Cancel Plan.

2. Disable ad-blockers and privacy extensions Stripe’s billing portal relies on strict security scripts and cross-domain tracking to verify that the person requesting the cancellation is the legitimate cardholder. Strict privacy extensions and ad-blockers often flag these payment verification scripts as trackers and block them.

  1. Open your browser's extension manager (e.g., chrome://extensions in Chrome).
  2. Temporarily toggle off all ad-blockers (UBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus, etc.), script blockers (NoScript), and privacy-focused extensions (Privacy Badger).
  3. If you are using Brave Browser, click the lion icon in the address bar and toggle Shields Up to Shields Down for the Midjourney domain.
  4. Clear your browser's cached images and files: press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac), select Cached images and files, and click Clear Data.
  5. Restart your browser, log back into your Midjourney account, and attempt the cancellation again.

3. Revoke and re-authorize Discord access If the cancel page displays a generic error or redirects you to a blank screen, your Midjourney authentication token may have expired or desynchronized from your active Discord session.

  1. Go to Discord on your browser or open the desktop app.
  2. Click the gear icon (User Settings) in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Navigate to the Authorized Apps menu on the left sidebar.
  4. Find Midjourney in the list of authorized applications and click Deauthorize.
  5. Return to https://www.midjourney.com/account.
  6. You will be prompted to log in and re-authorize the Midjourney application. Click Authorize.
  7. Navigate back to your billing options and attempt to cancel again. Re-authorizing forces the platform to generate a fresh, secure token to pass to the billing API.

4. Cancel via the Stripe billing confirmation email If the Midjourney web portal is completely unresponsive, you can access the payment backend through your original billing emails. Midjourney uses Stripe to send invoice confirmations.

  1. Open the email inbox associated with your Discord/Midjourney account.
  2. Search for emails from no-reply@stripe.com or search for the subject line containing Midjourney.
  3. Open your most recent invoice or payment confirmation email.
  4. Click the link that says Manage subscription or View invoice history.
  5. This link bypasses the Midjourney front-end entirely and routes you directly to Stripe's customer portal. From here, you can click Cancel Plan and confirm the termination.

When to escalate If the Stripe portal fails to load, or if your plan remains active despite completing the cancellation steps, you must contact support directly. Write an email to **billing@midjourney.com**. In your email, include your exact Discord username (with the discriminator, e.g., `username` or `username#0000`), the email address associated with your payment, and a screenshot of the error screen. To prevent further unwanted charges while waiting for a response, you can also contact your financial institution to request a temporary merchant block on your card for future charges from Midjourney.
