Midjourney Password Reset Failing? How to Fix Login

Updated 10/3/2026

If you are trying to reset your Midjourney password and finding that the option does not exist, or the reset links are failing, you are encountering a common point of confusion.

Midjourney does not use its own native username and password system. Instead, the platform relies entirely on federated authentication (Single Sign-On or SSO) through either Discord or Google. If you cannot log in or need to reset your password, you must troubleshoot the third-party account linked to your Midjourney subscription.

Follow these practical steps to resolve authentication loops, fix password reset errors, and regain access to your Midjourney account.

Why Midjourney Password Resets Fail Because Midjourney does not store password credentials, clicking a "forgot password" link on a generic login screen will not work for Midjourney. Your login attempts will fail if: * You are trying to reset a password on the Midjourney website directly. * Your browser is logged into a different Discord or Google account than the one tied to your active Midjourney subscription. * A cached browser cookie is blocking the Discord authorization handoff.

---

Step 1: Reset Your Linked Discord or Google Password Since your login is managed by Discord or Google, you must perform the password reset on their respective platforms.

  1. Go to Discord.com/login (or accounts.google.com if you signed up via Google).
  2. Click Forgot your password? on the Discord login screen.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your Midjourney subscription.
  4. Open your email inbox, find the verification link, and set a new password.
  5. Once updated, return to the Midjourney website and attempt to log in using the newly updated credentials.

Step 2: Clear Browser Authentication Loops Sometimes, resetting your password still results in a login loop or a blank screen on the Midjourney dashboard. This is usually caused by outdated browser cookies cached during your previous failed login attempts.

  1. Completely log out of Discord on your desktop browser by visiting Discord.com and clicking Log Out in your user settings.
  2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies. (In Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete or Cmd + Shift + Delete, select "Cookies and other site data," and click "Clear data").
  3. Open a new Incognito or Private window.
  4. Go directly to Midjourney.com/showcase (or the main sign-in page).
  5. Click Sign In and authorize the connection using your updated Discord/Google credentials.

Step 3: Resolve "Account Mismatch" and Multiple Profile Errors If you successfully log in but find your subscription missing, or you are prompted to pay again, your browser has likely authorized the wrong Discord or Google account.

  1. On the Midjourney website, look at the bottom-left corner of the dashboard to find your username.
  2. Open Discord and verify if the username and discriminator (e.g., username#0000) match exactly.
  3. If they do not match, click Sign Out at the bottom left of the Midjourney website.
  4. Go to Discord in your browser, log out of the active session, and log in with the correct email address holding your paid subscription.
  5. Go back to Midjourney and log in again to complete the correct authorization.

Step 4: Bypass the Website Login to Manage Billing If you cannot log into the Midjourney website but still have access to your Discord app, you can bypass the web login loop entirely to manage your plan or check your billing status.

  1. Open the Discord app on your desktop or mobile device.
  2. Navigate to any server containing the Midjourney Bot, or open your Direct Messages with the bot.
  3. Type /subscribe into the chat box and press Enter twice.
  4. The bot will generate a unique, personalized link that reads Manage Account.
  5. Click this link. It contains a secure, one-time authentication token that will log you directly into your Midjourney billing dashboard without requiring a password.

When to escalate If you have verified that your Discord/Google credentials are correct but you still receive errors like "Failed to authenticate" or "Invalid OAuth2 state," there may be an backend block on your account.

  • Contact Midjourney Support via Discord: If you can access Discord, join the official Midjourney server and post your issue in the #member-support channel. Helper staff can manually verify your Discord ID against your billing records.
  • Email Billing Directly: If you cannot access Discord at all, send an email to billing@midjourney.com. You must include your Discord username, the email associated with your payment, and a copy of your last invoice or the last four digits of the card charged.
