Midjourney Too Many Active Jobs Error: How to Fix

Updated 10/9/2026

If you are receiving an error stating you have reached your maximum number of active jobs, Midjourney has paused your ability to generate new images. This limit is in place to prevent server overload and distribute GPU power fairly among users.

Depending on your subscription tier, Midjourney limits how many image generations (jobs) you can run simultaneously. If you exceed this number, or if a previous generation becomes stuck in the background, you will be blocked from starting new prompts.

Here is how to clear your queue, resolve stuck jobs, and get Midjourney working again.

1. Check your queue status with the /info command Before attempting to clear jobs, you need to see exactly what Midjourney is processing.

  1. Open Discord and navigate to any server where the Midjourney Bot is active, or open your Direct Messages with the bot.
  2. In the text field, type /info and press Enter.
  3. Wait for the bot to output your account details.
  4. Look for the Queued Jobs and Running Jobs lines. This will show you exactly how many generations are currently active on your account.

If the status shows active jobs but you cannot see them generating in your current channel, they are likely running in a different Discord server, a different channel, or your Direct Messages.

2. Locate and cancel hidden active jobs Midjourney tracks active jobs globally across all Discord servers and your web inbox. If you started generations in a direct message and then moved to a public server, those DM jobs still count toward your limit.

  1. Check your Inbox in the top-right corner of Discord (the tray icon next to the search bar).
  2. Filter by Mentions to locate any channels where the Midjourney Bot has recently tagged you.
  3. Go to those channels to see if images are still generating.
  4. To cancel an active job, react to the generating image message with the red envelope emoji (✉️) or the red "X" emoji (❌). This instructs the bot to stop processing and delete the job.

3. Clear stuck jobs using the Midjourney website Sometimes, a job can get stuck at 99% or fail to complete due to a Discord API lag, remaining permanently active in your queue.

  1. Navigate to the official [Midjourney Website](https://www.midjourney.com/) and sign in with your Discord account.
  2. Go to your Create page or Archive tab.
  3. Look for any image tiles that display a spinning loading indicator or are marked as "In Progress."
  4. Click the three dots (...) on the stuck image thumbnail and select Cancel Job or Delete.
  5. Return to Discord and run /info again to verify that your active job count has dropped to zero.

4. Toggle between Fast and Relax modes If you are on a Standard, Pro, or Mega plan, you have access to both **Fast** and **Relax** generation modes. These modes have separate queues and concurrent job limits.

  • Basic Plan: Allows up to 3 concurrent jobs (no Relax mode available).
  • Standard Plan: Allows up to 3 concurrent Fast jobs, and up to 3 concurrent Relax jobs.
  • Pro Plan: Allows up to 12 concurrent Fast jobs, and up to 3 concurrent Relax jobs.
  • Mega Plan: Allows up to 12 concurrent Fast jobs, and up to 3 concurrent Relax jobs.

If your Fast queue is completely blocked by stuck processes, you can temporarily switch to Relax mode to bypass the queue lock:

  1. In Discord, type /relax and press Enter.
  2. Try running a new image prompt. This will queue your job in the slower, relaxed queue.
  3. Once your Fast queue clears, you can switch back by typing /fast.

5. Avoid batch prompt overloading Using advanced parameters like permutation prompts (e.g., creating variations using curly brackets like `{red, blue, green}`) can instantly consume your entire active job queue.

If you submit a permutation prompt that generates 10 variations, and your plan only allows 3 concurrent jobs, Midjourney will queue the remaining 7. If you try to enter another prompt while this batch is processing, you will trigger the "too many active jobs" error.

Avoid submitting multiple batch prompts or high-variation prompts back-to-back. Wait until your current batch completes entirely before initiating a new set.

When to escalate If `/info` shows that you have active jobs, but your web dashboard is completely clear, your account may be experiencing a synchronization desync on the Midjourney database.

To resolve this, visit the official Midjourney Discord server and navigate to the #member-support channel. Type your issue there; community guides can manually flag your account to force-clear any invisible, stuck backend processes.
