Midjourney Website Not Loading? How to Fix Web App Errors

Updated 10/2/2026

Midjourney has transitioned much of its generation, gallery, and user management experience to its web platform (midjourney.com). When the Midjourney website fails to load, displays a blank white screen, or returns server errors like 500 Internal Server Error, 502 Bad Gateway, or 503 Service Unavailable, it can disrupt your entire creative workflow.

These errors are usually caused by server outages, CDN delivery failures, local browser cache corruption, or blocking browser extensions. Follow this guide to diagnose and resolve Midjourney web interface loading issues.

1. Verify Midjourney and Discord Status Before troubleshooting your local system, confirm if the issue is a widespread outage. Midjourney relies heavily on back-end API infrastructure that occasionally goes down for maintenance or under heavy traffic loads.

  • Check the Status Channel: If you have access to the official Midjourney Discord server, check the #status channel. The developers post real-time updates regarding database maintenance, web app deployments, and unexpected service degradation.
  • Check DownDetector or Status Pages: Look up third-party outage trackers like DownDetector or check the unofficial status monitors for Midjourney's domain. If others are reporting the same issue, the servers are likely overloaded or down, and you must wait for the team to deploy a fix.

2. Perform a Hard Refresh If the status monitors show that servers are fully operational, your browser might be loading a corrupted, cached version of the website or an outdated JavaScript bundle.

  • Windows (Chrome, Edge, Firefox): Press Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R.
  • Mac (Safari, Chrome, Firefox): Press Cmd + Shift + R (or hold Shift and click the Reload button in Safari).

This forces your browser to bypass its local cache and request a fresh copy of the site directly from Midjourney’s servers.

3. Clear Midjourney Site Data and Cookies A corrupt cookie or state token can prevent the Midjourney alpha/beta web interface from rendering correctly, often resulting in an endless loading spinner or a completely blank screen.

  • In Google Chrome or Edge:
  • Click the padlock icon or the "tune" settings icon next to the URL in the address bar.
  • Click Site settings or Cookies and site data.
  • Select Manage on-device site data or click Clear data.
  • Reload the page and log back in.
  • In Mozilla Firefox:
  • Click the padlock icon to the left of the address bar.
  • Click Clear cookies and site data.
  • Confirm the removal, then reload the page.

4. Disable Conflicting Browser Extensions Midjourney's web generation tool relies heavily on WebGL, active WebSocket connections, and complex scripts. Aggressive ad-blockers, script-blockers, or privacy extensions can break these elements.

  1. Open an Incognito or Private Browsing window.
  2. Navigate to https://www.midjourney.com.
  3. Try logging in and rendering an image.
  4. If the site loads fine in Incognito, one of your browser extensions is blocking Midjourney. Temporarily disable extensions like uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, or WebGL-disabling tools one by one to isolate the culprit. Add midjourney.com to your extension's allowlist.

5. Enable WebGL and Hardware Acceleration The Midjourney web app requires WebGL support to render the image canvas, prompt editor, and gallery interfaces properly. If WebGL is disabled or your graphics driver is crashed, the page may remain blank.

  • To test your browser, visit https://get.webgl.org/. If you do not see a spinning cube, WebGL is disabled or unsupported.
  • To enable Hardware Acceleration (Chrome/Edge):
  • Open your browser settings and search for "Hardware Acceleration" in the search bar.
  • Toggle Use graphics acceleration when available to On.
  • Relaunch your browser and attempt to load Midjourney again.

6. Troubleshoot DNS and Network Routing Sometimes CDN nodes (like Cloudflare, which Midjourney uses for protection and asset delivery) experience localized routing failures.

  • Change DNS: If your ISP's DNS servers are struggling to resolve Midjourney's domain, switch to a public DNS provider. Configure your network settings to use Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1).
  • Toggle VPN: If you are using a VPN, temporarily disconnect it. Some VPN IP ranges are flagged or rate-limited by Midjourney's security protocols. Alternatively, if you aren't using a VPN, try turning one on and routing through a different region to bypass localized routing issues.

When to Escalate If you have tried all the steps above and the Midjourney website still fails to load (while other websites load normally), the platform may be experiencing a partial database desync or account-specific block.

  • Try Discord Generation: As a fallback, check if you can still generate images via the Midjourney Discord bot in your direct messages or on a private server. If Discord works but the web interface does not, the issue is strictly isolated to the web server API.
  • Reach out to Support: Visit the official Midjourney Discord and post in the #support or #member-support channels. Detail your browser, OS, and any specific error codes (like 500, 502, or 503) appearing in your browser's Developer Console (accessible via F12 -> Console tab).
