How to Fix Claude Login Loop and Redirect Issues
Updated 9/3/2026
Why the Claude Login Loop Happens
A login loop occurs when Claude's web application cannot validate your authentication token. When you input your email or click "Continue with Google," the application sends a request to Anthropic's authentication servers. If successful, it writes a secure session token to your browser's local storage and cookies.
If your browser blocks these cookies, if an ad-blocker intercepts the redirection payload, or if your local session data is corrupted, the server rejects the handshake. This forces Claude to redirect you back to the initial login screen. This troubleshooting guide helps you clear corrupted session data and resolve authentication conflicts.
Step 1: Clear Specific Auth Cookies and Local Storage
Clearing your entire browser history is unnecessary. Instead, remove the specific cookies and site storage assigned to Claude to reset your authentication state.
On Google Chrome or Brave: 1. Open `claude.ai` in your browser. 2. Click the lock or settings icon to the left of the URL in the address bar. 3. Select **Site settings** or **Cookies and site data**. 4. Click **Manage on-device site data**. 5. Click the trash icon next to `claude.ai` and `anthropic.com` to delete stored databases, cookies, and local storage. 6. Reload the page and attempt to log in again.
On Safari: 1. Click **Safari** in the top menu bar, then choose **Settings** (or **Preferences**). 2. Navigate to the **Privacy** tab and click **Manage Website Data...**. 3. Search for `claude` and `anthropic` in the search bar. 4. Select both domains and click **Remove All**. 5. Restart Safari and try logging in.
Step 2: Disable Corruptive Browser Extensions
Browser extensions that modify headers, block scripts, or protect privacy often interfere with Claude's redirect patterns during login.
- Temporarily disable any active ad-blockers (e.g., uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus) or privacy protection extensions (e.g., Privacy Badger, Ghostery).
- If you are using Brave Browser, disable Brave Shields specifically for claude.ai by clicking the lion icon in the address bar and toggling the switch to off.
- Disable password managers or auto-fill extensions that might be auto-submitting credentials before the page completely loads.
- Open an Incognito or Private Browsing window and try signing in. If this works, an extension is causing the conflict.
Step 3: Resolve Google SSO or Email Link Conflicts
If you use "Continue with Google" or rely on email login links, authentication handshakes can fail due to session mismatches.
- Verify your active Google Account: If you have multiple Google accounts logged into your browser, the OAuth handoff may attempt to log in using the wrong email address. Sign out of your secondary Google accounts, or use a clean browser profile to log in.
- Handle email sign-in links manually: If you receive a magic sign-in link via email, do not click it if your default browser is different from the browser you used to request the link. Instead, copy the destination URL of the login button from your email, paste it directly into the address bar of the browser where you want to use Claude, and press Enter.
Step 4: Reset Network Configurations and DNS
Stale DNS caches or strict network-level firewalls can prevent your machine from reaching Anthropic's authentication endpoints.
- Flush your DNS cache:
- Windows: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run ipconfig /flushdns.
- macOS: Open Terminal and run sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
- Change your DNS provider: If your ISP's DNS is slow to update, switch your network settings to use a public DNS resolver such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1).
- Disable active VPNs: Virtual Private Networks can trigger security checks that place your connection into an endless authentication loop. Disable your VPN to confirm if the IP address was flagged.
When to escalate
If you have cleared your browser storage, disabled extensions, tried an incognito window, and still cannot bypass the login screen, your account may be flagged or undergoing administrative review. Contact Anthropic's support team. In your support ticket, specify that you have already cleared site cookies and tried alternative browsers, and provide the exact error message or console logs (press F12 and click the Console tab) displayed during the loop.
