Claude Login Loop: How to Fix Sign In Redirects
Updated 9/19/2026
An endless login loop occurs when you enter your email or use Google SSO, complete the login steps, but are redirected straight back to the initial sign-in page without reaching the chat interface.
This behavior is almost always caused by a failure to write or read authentication cookies. This guide explains how to isolate and fix the browser configuration blocking Claude's login tokens.
1. Clear Site-Specific Cookies and Local Storage If your browser holds an expired or corrupted session token, the authentication server will reject your login attempt and bounce you back to the landing page. Clearing your general browser history isn't necessary—you only need to clear Claude-specific data.
In Chrome, Brave, or Edge: 1. Visit Claude.ai. 2. Click the padlock icon (or tune icon) to the left of the URL in the address bar. 3. Click Site settings (or Cookies and site data > Manage on-device site data). 4. Click the Delete/Trash icon next to all listed domains (such as claude.ai and anthropic.com). 5. Close your browser completely, reopen it, and attempt to sign in again.
In Safari: 1. Open Safari and go to Settings > Privacy. 2. Click Manage Website Data... 3. Type anthropic in the search bar, select it, and click Remove. 4. Type claude in the search bar, select it, and click Remove. 5. Restart Safari and log in.
2. Allow Cross-Site Tracking and Third-Party Cookies Claude uses third-party authentication services to verify your identity. If your browser or an extension blocks cross-site tracking, the login handshake will fail midway, returning you to the login screen.
- Brave Browser: Click the Brave Shield icon in the address bar and toggle shields OFF for Claude.ai to test if it resolves the loop.
- Safari: Go to Settings > Advanced and uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking.
- Chrome/Edge: Go to your browser's Privacy settings and ensure third-party cookies are not completely blocked. Set them to "Block third-party cookies in Incognito" instead of "Block all."
3. Disable Conflicting Browser Extensions Privacy-focused extensions, ad-blockers, and script-blockers frequently interfere with the background scripts Claude uses to complete logins.
- Open an Incognito / Private Window (this disables most extensions by default).
- Navigate to Claude.ai and attempt to log in.
- If the login works in Incognito, an extension is causing the loop.
- Open your extension manager and temporarily disable ad-blockers (like uBlock Origin), script blockers (like NoScript), or privacy managers (like Privacy Badger).
- Re-enable them one by one to find the specific extension blocking the authentication scripts.
4. Fix System Time and Date Sync Issues Claude's security protocols compare your local system time with the server time. If your computer's clock is off by even a couple of minutes, the authentication token generated during login will be flagged as invalid or expired instantly, causing a loop.
- Windows: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time. Click Sync now under "Synchronize your clock."
- Mac: Go to System Settings > General > Date & Time. Toggle Set time and date automatically off and back on.
When to Escalate If you have cleared your cache, verified your clock, disabled all extensions, and still cannot log in on any browser (including on a mobile device using cellular data), your account may be flagged or undergoing a temporary database lock.
Contact support through the widget on the Anthropic Help Center. Let them know you have completed the cookie clearance and extension troubleshooting steps so they can directly investigate potential account-side holds.
