Why is Claude Not Working in My Region? Quick Fixes

Updated 8/19/2026

When Claude.ai is operational globally but fails to load or shows access errors specifically for you, you are likely experiencing a regional routing error, a localized CDN outage, or an IP-based geographical block. Anthropic limits access to Claude in certain jurisdictions, and sometimes legitimate users are mistakenly flagged due to outdated IP allocation registries or misconfigured local ISPs.

Below is a sequence of troubleshooting steps to identify why Claude is failing in your specific region and how to restore access.

1. Confirm Regional Availability Status First, make sure your region is officially supported. * Visit the official Anthropic supported countries list to confirm that your current country or territory is on the approved list. * If you are in an unsupported region, Claude.ai will block access at the gateway level. If you are in a supported region but are still blocked, proceed with the technical steps below to resolve IP and DNS routing issues.

2. Check for Localized Cloudflare CDN Outages Anthropic uses Cloudflare's global Content Delivery Network (CDN) to route traffic. Sometimes, a specific regional Cloudflare data center suffers degraded performance, blocking local users while the rest of the world has normal access. * Go to `cloudflarestatus.com` to see if there are active routing issues or operational degradations in your city or region. * You can also use a VPN tool to route your traffic through a different supported city or country. If switching your connection location to another supported region immediately restores access, your local CDN node is down or degraded.

3. Correct Outdated IP Geolocation Mapping ISPs occasionally reassign blocks of IP addresses. If your local IP address was previously registered to a country where Claude is not supported, Anthropic's geo-blocking system will deny access, even if you are physically in a supported country. * Check your current public IP geolocation using a site like `ipinfo.io` or `maxmind.com`. * Verify if the country code displayed matches your actual, physical location. * If your IP address is incorrectly mapped to an unsupported region, restart your internet router to obtain a new dynamic IP address from your ISP. Alternatively, contact your ISP to report the incorrect IP geolocation registration.

4. Flush and Reconfigure DNS to Public Resolvers Local ISP DNS servers can suffer from routing delays or outdated records, directing your requests for `claude.ai` to dead IP addresses or old CDN edges. * Switch your DNS settings to reliable, globally synchronized public resolvers like Cloudflare or Google DNS. * **On Windows:** 1. Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. 2. Right-click your network connection and select **Properties**. 3. Double-click **Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)**. 4. Set "Use the following DNS server addresses" to: Preferred: `1.1.1.1` | Alternate: `8.8.8.8`. * **On macOS:** 1. Go to System Settings > Network. 2. Select your active network connection and click **Advanced** / **Details**. 3. Navigate to the **DNS** tab and add `1.1.1.1` and `8.8.8.8` to the list. * After updating, flush your DNS cache as described in your operating system's standard utilities.

5. Clear Geolocation Cookies and Session Storage Your browser stores previous location data in its local storage and cookie files. If you accessed Claude while traveling in an unsupported region, or if a temporary routing error occurred, your browser may still enforce the block locally. * Open your browser's Developer Tools (`F12` or `Ctrl+Shift+I` / `Cmd+Option+I`). * Go to the **Application** (or **Storage**) tab. * Select **Clear site data** to wipe all local storage, session storage, and cookies for `claude.ai`. * Reload the page and attempt to log in again.

When to escalate If you have verified that your country is on the supported list, your IP address is correctly geolocated to your physical location, your DNS is updated, and you still receive geographical block errors, contact Anthropic Support. Provide them with your public IP address (found via `ipinfo.io`), your ISP name, your physical city/country, and a copy of the specific error code displayed on your screen so they can whitelist your IP range.
