Figma Weave Blank Response: How to Fix
Updated 10/14/2026
If you are running Figma Weave tasks and receiving empty outputs, blank cards, or completely blank API payloads, you are likely facing an active service outage, a silent gateway failure, or a corrupted local cache.
When Figma Weave returns a blank response without displaying an explicit error message, troubleshooting requires identifying whether the blockage lives on Figma’s servers, your local network routing, or within the complexity of your design data. Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
1. Verify Figma Status and Platform Outages Before modifying local settings, check if Figma is experiencing a platform-wide outage or degraded performance affecting its developer services.
- Go to the official status page at status.figma.com.
- Look under the Figma Design and Developer APIs / Integrations sections.
- Check for any active incident reports mentioning "AI features," "Weave," "generation latency," or "degraded performance."
- If an active outage is reported, wait for Figma's infrastructure team to deploy a fix. During partial outages, Weave might successfully accept incoming payloads but fail to return content, leading to silent 200 OK blank responses.
2. Inspect Network Payloads for Silent Failures If the status page is green, check whether Weave is failing silently behind the scenes. You can identify this by inspecting the HTTP traffic during a generation attempt.
- If using Figma in a web browser, press F12 (or Cmd + Option + I on macOS) to open Developer Tools.
- Click on the Network tab.
- Trigger the Figma Weave action that is returning the blank response.
- Look for network requests hitting endpoints containing /weave or api.figma.com/v1/weave.
- Click on the failed request and inspect the Response tab:
- Empty response with a 200 OK status: This indicates Figma's backend received the request but failed to process your specific design frames. The issue is likely asset-specific.
- 502 Bad Gateway or 504 Gateway Timeout: The Weave model server is overloaded or temporarily unreachable. This is an infrastructural issue that usually clears up within minutes.
- 403 Forbidden: Your session credentials or API tokens have expired, blocking the payload downstream.
3. Clear Local Figma Cache and Restart If your local Figma app cache becomes bloated, it can prevent Weave from rendering generative elements within the UI canvas, resulting in blank panels and responses.
For the Figma Desktop App (macOS): 1. Close the Figma Desktop App completely. 2. Open **Finder**, press `Cmd + Shift + G`, and paste the following path: `~/Library/Application Support/Figma` 3. Locate and delete the `Cache` and `CachedData` folders. 4. Relaunch Figma and retry your Weave generation.
For the Figma Desktop App (Windows): 1. Close Figma. 2. Press `Windows Key + R` to open the Run dialog. 3. Type `%APPDATA%\Figma` and press **Enter**. 4. Open the folder and delete the `Cache` and `CachedData` directories. 5. Relaunch Figma.
For Web Browsers: 1. If running Figma in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, perform a hard refresh by pressing `Ctrl + F5` (Windows) or `Cmd + Shift + R` (macOS). 2. Alternatively, click the padlock icon in the browser address bar, select **Site Settings**, and click **Clear Data**.
4. Simplify Selection and Reduce Frame Complexity Sometimes Figma Weave generates a blank response because the target selection contains elements it cannot parse, such as infinite loops in nested auto-layout frames, corrupted custom variables, or excessively large embedded vector graphics.
- Select a simple, single frame containing only basic shapes or a text layer.
- Run Weave on this isolated, basic element.
- If it generates successfully, the blank response on your original layout was caused by file complexity.
- To fix this, duplicate your target frame, flatten complex vector paths, detach deeply nested custom components, and attempt to run Weave on the simplified copy.
5. Check Content Security Policies and Proxy Logs For users operating on secure corporate networks, firewalls or Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) may allow the outbound Weave request to pass but block the streaming response payload returned by Figma's generation servers.
- Temporarily disconnect from your corporate VPN or secure proxy server.
- Connect to an open, stable internet connection (such as a mobile hotspot).
- Attempt to run Weave. If it works, ask your network administrator to safelist or allow WebSocket connections (wss://) and API endpoints targeting *.figma.com and its subdomains.
When to Escalate If you have verified that Figma's servers are online, cleared your local caches, tested with simple shapes, and still consistently receive blank responses on multiple files, you may have run into an account-level throttling limit or a bug.
Export your network log as a HAR file from your developer tools, copy the unique File ID of the affected Figma design file, and open a support ticket with the Figma Engineering team through their official help center.
