Figma Weave Not Loading: How to Check Status and Fix

Updated 10/16/2026

When Figma Weave fails to load, displays a blank panel, or hangs indefinitely during launch, the cause is typically either a backend service outage or a corrupted local cache state. Because Figma Weave operates as a cloud-dependent integration within your design workspace, a disruption in Figma’s API infrastructure or the plugin’s hosting servers will prevent it from initializing.

Use this systematic guide to determine if Figma Weave is experiencing an outage and how to clear local blockages if the servers are fully operational.

1. Check Figma and Plugin API Status

Before troubleshooting your local installation, check if the underlying services are online. An outage on either Figma's side or the plugin developer's hosting environment will cause the interface to stay blank or fail to authenticate.

1. Go to the Figma Status Page (status.figma.com) to check if there are active outages affecting "Plugins and Integrations" or the "Figma Web App." 2. Check your team's internal communication channels or third-party monitoring sites to see if other designers are experiencing identical loading failures. 3. Open your system terminal (or command prompt) and run a quick ping test to verify your path to Figma’s asset servers: ping static.figma.com If packets are dropping, your local network or ISP is failing to resolve Figma’s content delivery network (CDN).

2. Hard Refresh the Figma Canvas

If the servers are online, a local script execution error might have locked up the plugin frame. A standard canvas reload forces Figma to fetch the latest version of the plugin components.

  • On the Web Browser Client: Press Ctrl + F5 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) to bypass the browser cache and reload the tab.
  • On the Figma Desktop App (Mac): Press Cmd + R to reload the active file tab.
  • On the Figma Desktop App (Windows): Press Ctrl + R to force-refresh the current window.

After reloading, wait 10 seconds and try to launch Figma Weave again from your Plugins menu.

3. Clear the Figma Desktop App Cache

If you are using the native Figma desktop application, a corrupted local data cache can prevent WebViews (which power plugins like Weave) from rendering properly. Clearing this cache forces the client to rebuild its application state.

On macOS: 1. Completely quit the Figma desktop application (`Cmd + Q`). 2. Open **Finder** and press `Cmd + Shift + G` to open the "Go to Folder" dialog. 3. Paste the following path and press Enter: `~/Library/Application Support/Figma` 4. Locate the folders named `Cache`, `CachedData`, and `GPUCache`. 5. Move these folders to the Trash. 6. Relaunch Figma and open Weave.

On Windows: 1. Close all running Figma processes via Task Manager. 2. Press `Windows Key + R` to open the Run dialog box. 3. Type `%APPDATA%\Figma` and press Enter. 4. In the directory that opens, locate and delete the `Cache`, `CachedData`, and `GPUCache` folders. 5. Relaunch the Figma desktop client.

4. Read the Developer Console for Server Errors

If Figma Weave loads to a black, white, or gray screen, the built-in developer console will show you the exact network error codes (such as HTTP 500, 502, 503, or 504).

  1. With your Figma file open and the Weave plugin active (even if blank), open the Developer Console:
  2. Mac Desktop Client: Press Cmd + Option + I.
  3. Windows Desktop Client: Press Ctrl + Shift + I.
  4. Web Browser: Right-click anywhere in the canvas and select Inspect, then switch to the Console tab.
  5. Look for red error messages.
  6. If you see Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED or a 502 Bad Gateway status code pointing to a Weave domain, the plugin’s dedicated host servers are down, and you must wait for the developers to deploy a hotfix.

5. Disable Conflicting Browser Extensions and VPNs

Security applications, ad blockers, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) often intercept the WebSocket connections that Figma plugins use to stream data.

  1. Disable Ad Blockers: Whitelist *.figma.com and any domains associated with Weave in extensions like uBlock Origin or AdBlock.
  2. Turn off VPNs: Temporarily disconnect your VPN or corporate proxy to verify if your network routing is blocking the plugin's communication ports.
  3. Test in Private/Incognito Mode: Open Figma in an Incognito window with all extensions disabled to confirm if a browser extension is interfering with the plug-in's script execution.

When to Escalate

If you have cleared your cache, verified that your local network is functional, and the developer console displays persistent 500 Internal Server Error or connection timeout errors, the issue is on the service provider's end.

File a support ticket directly through Figma's Help Center, or contact the official maintenance team for Figma Weave with a copy-paste of the red error log from your Developer Console.
