Figma Weave Not Responding: How to Check Status & Fix

Updated 10/17/2026

If Figma Weave stops responding to design queries, hangs indefinitely during code-to-design generation, or fails to initialize, it can be difficult to tell whether the platform is experiencing a widespread outage or if the issue is local to your machine. Because Figma Weave relies heavily on real-time API synchronization and streaming large design tokens, minor connection drops can break the active state.

Here is how to check if Figma Weave is down and how to resolve local connection freezes.

1. Verify the official status and console errors Before changing any local settings, rule out a global outage on Figma's end.

  1. Check the Status Page: Go to status.figma.com. Look closely at the "API" and "Plugins" sections. Because Figma Weave utilizes these specific microservices to render and parse design layers, any disruption there will break Weave.
  2. Check Community Reports: Search platforms like X (formerly Twitter) using "Figma down" or check the Figma Community Forum to see if other designers are experiencing the same 503 or timeout errors.
  3. Inspect the Console: Open Figma in your browser or desktop app. Open the developer console (press Ctrl + Shift + I on Windows or Cmd + Option + I on Mac). Look for red error lines containing 500 Internal Server Error, 502 Bad Gateway, or 503 Service Unavailable. If these errors are present, the servers are down, and you must wait for Figma's engineering team to deploy a fix.

2. Force-clear the Figma desktop app cache If the official status page shows all systems operational, a corrupted local session or cached script is likely blocking Figma Weave from establishing a secure connection.

If using the Figma Desktop App on Mac: 1. Close the Figma Desktop app completely. 2. Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, and paste: ~/Library/Application Support/Figma/ 3. Locate the Cache and Local Storage folders and delete them. 4. Restart the Figma app and try launching Weave again.

If using the Figma Desktop App on Windows: 1. Close Figma. 2. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type %APPDATA%\Figma, and press Enter. 3. Delete the Cache and Local Storage folders. 4. Relaunch Figma and run Weave.

If using Figma in a Web Browser: 1. Perform a hard refresh using Ctrl + F5 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac). 2. If the issue persists, clear your browser's cookies and cached site data specifically for figma.com.

3. Disable active network proxies, VPNs, and extensions Figma Weave transmits high-volume JSON payloads to map design variables. Local network configurations, corporate firewalls, and security extensions frequently intercept these bursts, causing the service to stop responding.

  1. Disconnect VPNs: Temporarily disable your corporate VPN or proxy server.
  2. Turn off Ad-Blockers: Disable browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger for the Figma domain, as they can block the WebSockets needed for live generation.
  3. Test a Mobile Hotspot: Switch your computer’s internet connection to a mobile hotspot. If Figma Weave suddenly begins working, your primary network router or ISP DNS is blocking Weave's API endpoints.

4. Test Weave on an isolated file An extremely large Figma file with thousands of components, nested auto layouts, or broken variable links can cause Figma Weave's parser to time out and stop responding.

  1. Create a brand-new, completely blank Figma file.
  2. Draw a simple frame with a single rectangle inside.
  3. Launch Figma Weave and attempt to run a generation or query on that simple frame.
  4. If it works, the service is online and functioning. The issue lies within your original file—look for deeply nested components, circular variable references, or corrupted design assets that may be overloading the processor.

When to escalate If the official Figma status page is green, your internet connection is stable, and Figma Weave still fails to respond even on a blank, newly created file, your account session may be locked on the server side.

Contact Figma support through your organization dashboard. Provide them with your console log export (showing the exact API timeout codes) and specify that you have already cleared your local cache and tested on an isolated file. This will bypass initial tier-1 troubleshooting and get your ticket routed directly to the engineering team.
