Figma Weave Stuck Generating: How to Fix

Updated 10/12/2026

If you are trying to use Figma Weave to translate designs into code, generate UI components, or map design systems, you may occasionally experience an issue where the progress bar freezes indefinitely. When Figma Weave gets stuck generating, it usually points to a local cache conflict, an overloaded file node tree, or a silent API gateway timeout.

Because Figma Weave processes complex vector data on remote cloud servers, a temporary disruption in your local environment or Figma's canvas state can break the generation pipeline. Use this guide to diagnose and resolve the issue.

1. Verify Platform Status Before modifying your local setup or design files, check if Figma Weave is experiencing an outage. * Check the official Figma status page for any active degradations in plugin infrastructure, API gateways, or canvas rendering engines. * If there is an active incident listed for developer platform tools, the generation servers are likely overloaded. You will need to wait for Figma's backend engineering team to deploy a fix.

2. Force Reload the Plugin and Figma Sometimes the plugin state becomes desynchronized from your active canvas selection. A hard refresh of the plugin engine can re-establish the socket connection.

If using the Figma Desktop App: 1. Close the Figma Weave plugin panel. 2. In the top menu, go to View > Developer > Toggle Developer Tools. 3. In the console panel that opens, click the Network tab, check Disable Cache, and then press Cmd + R (Mac) or Ctrl + R (Windows) to hard reload the Figma window. 4. Relaunch Figma Weave from your Plugins menu.

If using Figma in a Browser: 1. Press Shift + F5 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) to bypass your local browser cache. 2. Log out of Figma entirely, close the tab, open a new window, and log back in.

3. Clear the Figma Desktop Cache Corrupted cache files in Figma's desktop directory frequently block plugin data streams, causing generations to hang at 0% or 99%.

For macOS users: 1. Quit the Figma desktop app completely. 2. Open Finder and press Cmd + Shift + G. 3. Paste the following path: ~/Library/Application Support/Figma and press Enter. 4. Delete the Cache, CachedData, and Local Storage folders. 5. Restart Figma and launch Figma Weave.

For Windows users: 1. Close Figma. 2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. 3. Type %APPDATA%\Figma and click OK. 4. Delete the Cache, CachedData, and Local Storage folders. 5. Reopen Figma and try your generation again.

4. Simplify the Selection and Node Count Figma Weave can fail silently or time out if you try to process an entire page or a frame containing thousands of nested layers, hidden vectors, or heavy raster images.

  1. Duplicate the frame you want to generate code or assets for.
  2. In the duplicated frame, delete all hidden layers (Cmd + Shift + H to locate them quickly). Hidden layers are still processed by the Weave parser and can cause memory limits to be exceeded.
  3. Flatten complex vector shapes or custom icon paths that do not need to remain editable.
  4. Select a single, isolated child component instead of the entire parent layout, and run Figma Weave on that isolated selection to see if it generates successfully. If it does, the issue is a specific corrupted node in your main layout.

5. Check for Network Protocol Interferences Figma Weave relies on continuous WebSockets and secure API handshakes to process your layouts. Security software can block these background tasks.

  1. Disable any active VPNs, corporate proxies, or custom DNS configurations.
  2. If you are behind a corporate firewall, ensure that traffic to *.figma.com and any external endpoints used by the Weave plugin are whitelisted.
  3. Switch to a mobile hotspot temporarily to test if your local network provider is throttling or blocking the generation requests.

When to Escalate If you have cleared your cache, isolated your layers, verified that Figma services are operational, and the generation still hangs indefinitely, the issue may be related to your specific account provisioning or a bug in the plugin's parser.

Gather your system specs, the console log errors (found under View > Developer > Toggle Developer Tools > Console), and the specific URL of the Figma file you are working on. Open the Figma Help Center or submit a support ticket via the Weave plugin's support link directly with these diagnostics attached.
