Midjourney Down Error 500: How to Fix

Updated 10/13/2026

Midjourney is experiencing issues? If you are encountering HTTP 500, 502, or 503 errors, blank screens on the web alpha, or your image prompts are stuck generating indefinitely, you are likely dealing with a server-side outage or a communication breakdown between Discord and Midjourney's GPU clusters.

Here is a systematic troubleshooting guide to diagnose whether Midjourney is down for everyone, and how to resolve local connectivity errors preventing your images from loading.

1. Verify Midjourney and Discord Status Pages Before changing any local settings, verify if Midjourney's backend is operational. The service relies heavily on both its own web servers and Discord's API routing. 1. Visit the official Midjourney Status channel inside the official Discord server. Look for the `#status` channel for announcements regarding database maintenance, API upgrades, or GPU outages. 2. Check the Midjourney Web Status page (if accessible) or community-monitored sites like DownDetector to see if other users are reporting simultaneous outages. 3. Check the Discord Status page (`discordstatus.com`). If Discord's API or gateway is degraded, Midjourney cannot receive your prompts or return completed grids, even if Midjourney's own systems are fully functional.

2. Check for Discord Bot Response Issues If Midjourney's servers are online but the bot is completely ignoring your prompts or returning blank responses, the issue may be isolated to your specific channel or server. 1. Test the bot in a different environment. If you are using a private server, try sending a direct prompt to the Midjourney Bot in a Direct Message (DM), or use one of the official `#newbies` channels in the main server. 2. Check the bot's permissions. If you are in a private server, ensure the Midjourney Bot has "Read Messages", "Send Messages", and "Embed Links" permissions enabled in that channel's integration settings. 3. Run the `/info` command. If the bot responds to `/info` but won't process `/imagine`, the GPU queue is likely backed up, or your subscription has run out of fast hours.

3. Clear Local Web Cache and Fix 500/503 Errors If you are using the Midjourney Web App (`midjourney.com`) and getting 500 Internal Server Error, 503 Service Unavailable, or a completely blank loading screen, local browser data might be corrupted. 1. Hard refresh your browser. Hold `Ctrl + F5` (Windows) or `Cmd + Shift + R` (Mac) to bypass the local cache and pull a fresh copy of the web app from Midjourney's CDN. 2. Clear site-specific cookies. Click the padlock icon in your browser's address bar next to `midjourney.com`, select "Cookies and site data", and click "Clear". 3. Disable active browser extensions. Ad-blockers, privacy extensions, and script-blockers can interfere with Midjourney's Cloudflare protection, resulting in a blank screen or a perpetual loading loop.

4. Resolve Stuck Generations and Queue Holds If your generation has been stuck at "0%" or "Waiting to start" for more than 5 minutes, the rendering node assigned to your job may have crashed. 1. Locate the stuck job in your Discord feed. 2. React to the stuck message with the red envelope emoji (✉️). This prompts the bot to send you the job ID in a direct message. 3. If the job is visible on your web gallery, you can find the Job ID by clicking the "..." menu on the image details page. 4. Cancel the job manually using `/cancel [Job ID]` (if using external tools) or simply attempt a brand new generation with a slightly altered prompt to bypass the stuck queue node. 5. Switch generation modes. If your fast hours are throttled, use `/relax` to switch to Relax Mode, or vice versa, to force a queue reset on your account.

5. Address Network and Cloudflare Blocks Midjourney uses aggressive Cloudflare routing to protect its generation APIs. If your IP address falls into a flagged range, you will experience 403 or 500 errors. 1. Temporarily disable your VPN. If you are using a VPN, switch servers or turn it off entirely, as Midjourney frequently blocks high-traffic VPN exit nodes to prevent scraping. 2. Switch DNS providers. If the web app won't resolve, change your device's DNS settings to Google Public DNS (`8.8.8.8` / `8.8.4.4`) or Cloudflare DNS (`1.1.1.1`). 3. Test on mobile data. Disable Wi-Fi on your phone and try generating via the Discord mobile app over cellular data to isolate local router-level DNS issues.

When to Escalate If you have confirmed that both Discord and Midjourney status pages indicate normal operations, but you still receive 500 errors or blank screens, your account might be experiencing a database synchronization error. Reach out to the helper team in the `#member-support` channel of the official Midjourney Discord server. If you cannot access Discord, email `billing@midjourney.com` for direct account assistance.
